I've been spending the last few days making some of the most amazingly detailed textures ever seen in SL.
I'm excited by this, for I feel I have another opportunity to effect SL in a positive manner, and make a measly $L25 for each of my textures bought.
But, to my UTTER AMAZEMENT I find out tonight, that you can't sell your textures unless you are willing to give FULL PERMISSIONS to the person buying them. Otherwise, the buyer of your textures cannot use them to produce an object they might wish to sell.
This is totally out of line with every thought put into permissions! What would scripters say if they had to give FULL and COMPLETE permissions to the person buying their scripts in order for them to be used in the making of cars, airplanes, seating objects, etc etc.
I absolutely demand that LL address this situation immediately! For crying outloud, permission issues like this should have been fixed over a year ago! Why is it then that the Texture Makers have to GIVE AWAY their hard work, when everyone else is getting protection? What sort of foolishness went into the thinking that textures should not be a protected class such as Clothing, Scripts, OBJECTS!
LL, I am your biggest fan. I tell people everyday about this terrific game, and the terrific staff it has. But this has boggled my mind! How in the world can you let something this glaring slip through the cracks?
I think it's high time someone begin to pay closer attention to the development staff when they say PERMISSIONS ARE FIXED. If SL needs quality assurance personnel, I will gladly give up half of my playing time per week to go over the fixes and changes being implemented to be certain they are done correctly and not HALF-ASSED!
I'm sorry I'm a bit abrupt about this, but I can't begin to understand why LL didn't fix something as glaring as this when permissions were in for a total overhaul some time ago! I'm certainly beginning to lose faith in the whole LL Team. I have addressed my concerns why on a more private scale, but everyday it seems I find another ridiculous example of how unwell something has been done.
I demand that the fixes to the PERMISSIONS be done immediately, as they should have been done over a YEAR AGO! Let's get with it guys, before you find yourselve being compared to the lowly of lowly as was EA/OSI a few years back!
Thanks
