This is a copy of a post from my blog...

Eventful: SecondLife thru Clickable Culture

An old pal of Philip Linden has a company that runs an event listing portal. They clicked in again and now LindenLabs feeds all of its events into Eventful (I wonder if SLBoutique.com cares about that, since they run their own event portal).

Eventful has many interesting features that could solve the spam problem we currently have in SL and make our second lives better, to name just a few: it's tags-based and supports RSS and ICAL feeds.

What I'd love to see? LindenLab outsourcing it's event listing and search to Eventful. Making the integration tighter and solving the various limitations that this initial experiment has (to name a few: the event poster should be the avatar name instead of 'lindenlab', we should be able to tag our events directly).

With in-world HTML coming to SecondLife this quarter, this is not only possible. This is hopefully going to happen. LindenLab would benefit if it could focus on its core work on the SecondLife engine and client, leaving the implementation of the find tools to third parties.

It's really easy. What we need is just not to limit ourselves to HTML on a prim, give us also a web browser in a window!

Totaly agree, but i'll go further. LL should focus on engine and interface backend. Leave the interface front end to the users. There is no good reason for why so much of the SL interface is hard coded (besides having to commit Dev time).

Mmm...actually. I see the Reload Interface XML command in Debug menu. Have never checked what it really does, and what XML file it load. But still interesting...
