I've been trying to describe this concisely and for the fun of it, I'm going to go with the phrase "PARTY ON" as featured in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. It having a double meaning, of course: I find exploring to be really fun, and it can be even more fun with friends -- a party partying, so to speak. Or, if that word makes you conjure up images of RPG groups travelling to distant realms and seeking out treaaasure!, then that's good too. I've found current travelling in a group to be cumbersome. Either everyone can travel to the same destinations on a list manually (departing from Telehub and all that), or somewhat better, I have to TP each member of the group manually once I get somewhere that is too far to fly to. However, this doesn't solve the problem: with each destination, it gets increasingly inefficient. I believe a way to "link" people in a group would be most excellent, and that everyone would teleport in sync from one location to the other, all synced to a designated "party leader". There are a number of obvious uses for this. One of them, of course, is tourism in Second Life, to make sure that no one gets lost/left behind. Sometimes, one friend may go AFK but you obviously don't wanna leave them behind, so being able to teleport them out too -- after the chum has already consented beforehand, of course -- would be wonderful. Or, formations could be set so people could be free to explore and roam around, and then be bundled back together in a circle for the next TP after the tour guide announces that it is time to journey on. This would ideally work throughout the simscape. Right now, for party travelling, I think of vehicle tours like Cubey and Apotheus's airship. It frees up your hands to see the sights via Mouselook and chat while going around to new places. Big problem, however: the sim crossing "vanish" bug. You may be enjoying the sights of Zermatt like I and company was yesterday, but when that blimp unexpectedly vanishes and dumps you down below, you will be frowning. So, I have this to say: BE MOST EXCELLENT TO EACH OTHER, AND PARTY ON, DUDES!

Hi Torley this is very easy to do with a script, please remind me if you see me on, and I will give you a following script. It doesnt work for teleporting people of course.

I would be interested too. Sometimes I like to have a traveling party (affectionately called the "Aimee Train" but when my merry band gets to be 10+ people I spend more time TPing than partying. -Aimee

Thank you Eggmeister... Yeah, I'd like to see your following script! On the whole, however, if it doesn't work with teleporting, that's a BIG one right there. My idea is for it to have it work across all sims that everyone in the group has access to. If it's private or something, it can send a warning message. Maybe link it up with the transporter/backpack Fran and Rathe are working on -- what I affectionately call the Telehubby, he he he -- and some sort of groupsync. Glad to see you are interested, Aimee and Merwan. OUR BAND OF MERRY TRAVELLERS HAS NOT STOPPED VOYAGING YET!

There used to be a way to pull up a landmark on the world map, and have your avatar fly to it automatically by pressing a button. It mysteriously vanished about a year ago IIRC. I never understood why.

I was going to make a request for this. I want to follow along with my friend when she goes shopping and be able to chat with her, but continue to work on my second monitor on RL stuff.

would it be possible to, until LL coughs up these functions, to make some sort of, idunno, attachment or script to make a person follow another person?

From: Burke Prefect would it be possible to, until LL coughs up these functions, to make some sort of, idunno, attachment or script to make a person follow another person? There are "leashes" and devices that work over short-ranges, yes. Heck, my pal Xyni made a "follow ball" that I can sit on to track her around a sim. But nothing that I know of -- yet -- that would operate over teleport ranges from one end of the metaverse to the other.

Yes, please. Enter a proposal and I will somehow find a vote for it. I'd like to see it implemented as a pie click option -- the person following clicks on the leader and selects "follow." The leader should probably have to approve this. Then, wherever the leader goes, so also go the follower(s), including teleports. But this feature needs to wait until they get teleports fixed. neko

From: Torley Torgeson Is there any more interest in this? There has got to be more! Well, I don't really tend to travel with a large group of folks, but whenever the three or four or six of us want to go to the same place, we usually stagger TPs; I'll get a TP, then grab this person while the next person in queue gets nabbed by someone else...etc, and yes, it can get cumbersome. It'd be nice if there were some way to "Teleport All Users Online" in a Calling Card folder much like you can "IM All Users Online"...you can either edit said folder to include whomever, or they can simply decline the TP if they don't want it. It SOUNDS simple enough...but then again, I don't have to make it WORK! *grins*
