Four buttons is NOT enough. Ok? When you want to do any remotely complex system using llDialog, say, browsing a list, you need to chain them, having a button for Back, and a button for Next. This leaves you with a grand total of two "action" buttons. Yay. However, not all data is linear. So what do you do if you have a TREE? You add a button to go Up one level and a button to go Down one level... and... now that im done browsing my data, what CAN i do with it, if I have no buttons left? Use text commands, like we did before we had dialogs? How usable. Is there a point in having only 4 buttons? Can we please bump it up a little? It sounds like you people at LL often base your decisions on a die roll, what with all these magic numbers we are forced to live with. Also, the window is tiny. Text gets chopped off. And there is no input field, forcing us to use the chat box... I'm not even going to ask for an image display field. Just ONE more button. Please! Or two! Can we have two more buttons? It would be nifty! Is that too much to ask, two buttons? Will having six buttons cause horrible lag? Will it allow any more griefing than four? Thank you.

Six buttons would be great. 5 would be usable. 4 is just mean. Extending the length of llDialog's list to 6 strings rather than 4 would be great. I've wanted to make multiplayer card games for months, and all the solutions I've tried have been inadequate. Card games like poker or board games like Risk would be possible with six buttons. It wouldn't be pretty, but it'd work. Obviously, the image display field is what we all really want, but I'm not asking for that either. Just two more buttons.

I also support this feature/suggestion I think llDialog was originally ust a trial hack just for us to get started playing with it. They probably didnt want to overburden us with form design and also make it into a full blown multiple function/type thing with its own dialog design system ala VB Different kinds of dialogs i.e, java style jOptionPane or whatever it is might be a better next step. Or the simpler version more buttons, with a few options of where to dock the dialog, top left, top right, having multiple dialogs. A few different button layouts also might be a good thing. Thats about as much more as I can think you can squeeze into function parameters before it starts getting messy food for thought

Why not allow 16 buttons or something? 6? Come on ask for a real upgrade! This is a good idea, maybe upgrading it can go along with a big UI upgrade for things like custom vehicle HUDs and stuff? They seem like kindof inter-related ideas.

As I mentioned before, toss a very simple html parser into the code and allow a script to call and external site. No crazy flash stuff, no java/java script. Just plane old text and graphics. Send in click results via XML-RPM. Walla, instant fully customizable UI for stuff.

Yes, that'd be nice and everything, but adding a extra two buttons is something they're much more likely to spend the time on. Like you, I would much prefer a fully scriptable, XML-based UI, able to draw windows and widgets and communicate with scripts running on the server... but we have to realize that the Lindens tend to be much more willing to give us features we ask for if they can be implemented in a couple hours' work.

I'd personally like to see an implementation of some kind of form manager in 1.5 or 1.6... simplified HTML forms or something.

Like I said, form manager would be nice, but yeah the couple of hours work issue at this point I think the extra buttons and being able to align the dialog at different places or make it possible to have more than one dialog up at one time is far easier to implement. I'd settle for just extra buttons

I endorse any improvements to the llDialog. (exception being downgrades that are said to be "improvements" in the release notes)
And I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that we have the full ability to draw, create, make, edit, alter, change, any and all UI componants. I want the ability to make my own window of a specific size with as many buttons as I want and whatever graphics I want in it (you can limit how big windows can be if you want, but no button limits! I love clicking buttons!).
I want the ability to make full forms using but not limited to, radio buttons, check boxes, input boxes, sliders, buttons, doodads and whirly gigs.
I want the ability to load custom skins into the users UI with their permission.
I want to be able to have windows, dialogs, to have custom fonts and texture animations.
I want to be able to set things like transparency, background color, text color, button color, etc.
And last but not least, I want my Mule.

I'd like the ability to position dialogs, so I can buy land next to all the important telehubs and bomb people's entire screens with popups instead of the wimpy top-right corner. Imagine the entire screen going blue with three or four levels deep of pop-ups, each having six buttons and none of them labelled "close/cancel/no/go away"!
Well, I can dream.

I don't endorse *everything*... I don't think... bleh. And I think I passed you up because you went away or something for awhile there. Or have been spending more time in-world than on the forums than I have. *shrug* And yes I can see it now "Your Ad Here! Buy This Dialog Space!" "Buy my Land ONLY 500000L$ for 512sqm!!". Thankfully you'd be abuse reported faster than... well... something really fast. Not to mention the forum Drama you'd cause.

Well, I can dream. Its people like you that lead the Lindens to implementing half-assed, crippled crap. Its not funny, really. ==Chris PS. Id like the additions discussed here, but Id also like ignore mode to extend to dialogs so idiots who think they can spam me with them... cant.
