I hate to criticize anything about SL, but something needs to be done about the official LSL guide. It's ok for those who are familiar with similar scripts (and scripting concepts). But for novices it's confusing. If it weren't for the wiki I doubt I'd have ever scripted anything.
At the very least it needs a primer that explains the basics in baby talk- so the reader gets a firm grasp about how computers read scripts, basic concepts and how everything interacts.
Please make sure the writers or editors can seriously put themselves in the shoes of someone who's never scripted anything, never seen a script before, and wouldn't know a float from a function.
A common flaw with technical writing in general is that the writers dispense the information without communicating it clearly. To someone familar to the concepts, the document makes sense. To everyone else it doesn't.
This is not a personal attack on the writer(s)- he/she/they are obviously bright people who put a lot of work into compiling the info. It's simply a request for a guide aimed towards the rest of us.
