I like the realism of the sun the moon cycles just as much as the next person, but there are times I would like to have control over what the ambient lighting is set to. I am already aware of the "Force sun set" option in the debug menu, however how about the inverse of that option. I would like the ability to see what the local lighting of my apartment looks like at night and not have to wait for the sun to actually set.

Thanks for a Second Life :D

Check Debug->World->Mouse Moves Sun and you can place the sun anywhere you want (even under the horizon) using your mouse in mouselook mode.

Bing! The light goes on! I've tried this before and it didn't seem to work, but I've never tried mouselook!

Thanks!

Has this option (mouselook / ctrl-alt-m debug mode) been disabled in the new version 1.7 of SL released in the past few days?

As i cannot alter the sun position for lighting effects as in ver 1.6.

err.. in fact i cannot see a option to enter debug mode on the main window either anymore... ??

ctrl-alt-d opens the debug menu, and it works fine. It actually works BETTER.

Two very fundamental problems I have with the current implementation:
  1. "Force Sunset" doesn't make sense as wording. It should be "Force Daylight".
  1. Also, Mouse Moves Sun allows for great flexibility, but doesn't allow for great precision. How do I mean this? Well, the mousey sun gets all jiggly and it's difficult to adjust to a certain TIME of day reliably. For example, say you're taking a photo shoot with golden tinges just at sundown, and you crash. You wanna relog and maintain that consistency, but it takes a lot of tweaking. Timewaster! Should be a way to specify a time of SL day, perhaps, and the sun will lock to that.
So yupyup. :)

The Smart Office Keyboard Software has taken over some system resources
Ctrl + Alt + D

Happens to be one assigned to open Microsoft word

Never had a real problem as ctrl + alt + m would activate debug mode to enable sun control in mouselook.

Still looking to see if i can easily reassign the XP shortcut keys for opening word.. something i haven't done before..

After beating up the keyboard driver; occasionally casts it balefull glances... I have managed to bring it back into line (debug mode now ok).

the sun rotation needs to be slowed down mabey like evey hour instead if it happening when ever and mabey based on the hour that determines the position of the sun rather than every time you log in its dark and then it can still allow force sunset.
