A while back I made a vote for a single user mode (https://secondlife.com/vote/) (prop 507), surprisingly I was able to do this before joining SL.
Because I was not apart of SL at the time I made this vote, I was at the time unable to make a discussion tread, so I'm going it now.
I believe that a single user mode would be beneficial to both LL and the residence of SL. It would allow residents who at a particular time do not wish to join the grid (or cant join the grid) to still be able to build and script. This would solve some of the problem with lag in the sandboxes (Island Sandbox for example), and it would allow builders and scripters to create in please when they wish too.
Finally, a single user mode would eliminate the need for orientation Island. Users could master the main features in single user, and join the grid for the advanced stuff.
Basically I am proposing a 512-1024square meter parcel held entirely on the users own computer, with a initial orientation program for new users. Once orientation is complete, the land becomes flat and available for manipulation.
so what do you think?
