We need a way to Log chats on the clients side. For proof of abuse and/or keeping records of past conversations. keeping Main chat and Instant messages seperate. and the Instant message log to be seperated by person IMing the person logging. If person A messages person B the log will be saved under person A's name.

I copy logs by ctrl-A (select all) ctrl-C (copy), switch to notepad, ctrl-V (paste). Not elegant, but flexible and doesn't use linden resources implementing something I can already do fairly easily.

Doesn't work for proof of abuse, though. That could be a control on the abuse form, like the snapshot. "include chat log" or "include IM log" (and select user name). Not useful, though, unless someone is willing to read the log.

I wholeheartedly agree... not because of abuse, but because its hard to remember who said what, when, and what links and other things were shared in the chat window (pasted in sl:// links, urls and other things).

Any way to do this with the current 1.12.3(4) version?

Seems not.

I'd also like to se the /me convention for third-party narrative, carried over to the IM system. At the moment, it's not.

Having : as a synonym for /me would be cool too.
