I build houses for people and something that always drives me nuts is transferring. I find it extremely difficult to do, especially with big builds and the godforsaken link limitations (distance/quantity). I therefore propose a new option that will allow you to deed an object you own to the owner of the land it's on.

How I'd set it up:

1. Select the object(s)
2. Select th menu option Tools > Deed to Land Owner --- don't give it a hot key.
3. Pop up warning says basically the same stuff the Deed to Group warning does. Click OK.
4. Pop up asks land owner if he would like the objects. Land Owner says yes, the objects are transferred to him and the original owner is told of the successful transaction. Land Owner says no, the objects are not transferred and the object owner/creator receives a refusal pop up. Offline land owner is dealt with like an offline inventory transfer.

or maybe, even easier

a way to set objects to sale to only one person. Then you could set the whole thing for sale at 0L to whoever.

Also, you do know, you can take more than 255 prims into your inventory at once, just shift-select and click take

You can take entire builds this way, from 2 prims in 2 separate objets, to 4000 prims in 500 objects (a bit laggy but it works)
