Based on reading and notes from threads in the Events Discussin forum, let's group together and put together our suggestion for LL on an events list that would keep most of us happy...

General consensus thus far is that the current format bites, most are opposed to any sort of listing fee, most would like a way to filter. So to get the ball rolling, let me propose a user interface that looks something like this:

Check box for "show mature"
Check box for "show all events, all categories"

Sub heading Show only these categories

(Radio buttons)
Dances/parties
Educational/creative contests
Sales/Grand Openings/Fashion Shows/Commercial Special Events
Discussions/group meetings
Games


My personal suggestions:

Dances/parties must be required to list music format
Sales/commercial lists must be required to give a sample list of items being shown/sold


Policing - there needs to be some procedure in place for cross posting an event in more than one category, which we all know is going to happen. I will throw out on the table a 30 day suspension from posting events for the individual or facility involved?

Let's discuss. In a rational and considerate manner, please.

Isablan, we have touched on this topic several times in Robin Linden's Events Work Group. You might want to contact Robin about joining to participate in those discussions. While the first meeting yesterday was sorta chaotic, the meeting this morning worked much better and we made some progress. Robin has said redesign of the event listings will be on our agenda sometime.

Olmy, I had intentended to get in on the events group as well, thanks :)

My reasoning behind starting a general discussion was that the user interface for the events listing is something applicable to all residents of SL and it would be nice if would could send a fully fleshed out proposal to LL that works for a majority of users.

There are a lot of events-specific concerns for businesses/hosts that are, I think, more suited to a smaller discussion group.
