i would like a feature that could tell me how much has been download while i play sl, the reason for this is that i have a download limt (as do other people) and i would like to know how much is beign downloaded while i play so i can judge how long i can play so i dont get my bandwidth shaped (again).

Eh id recommend thiswww.netlimiter.com, free but if you want to chocke line upload/download even set a max limit pr day/week/month ect, it will cost (cough).

SL crash so much i doubt it could even remember how much it downloaded -.-

sure dont seem to remember it has already downloaded a texture i just looked at before a crash.

Well, if you're in Windows, if you click the network icon in the tray.. or go to Start, Settings, Network Connections, and click Local Area Connection... or whatever your connection is, you may be able to see how much you've transferred.
Of course if you have other computers on your LAN, it will count data going to/from any them, too.. but this may be a viable way to count bandwidth usage for some people in some situations.

I'm sure Macs, Linux, etc. have their own bandwidth counters for a LAN or broadband connection?

I voted in favor of this, because I believe it will be helpful to others. I have an unlimited access cable modem connection, with no bandwidth constraints, so it won't matter to me, personally. But it certainly would be useful for people who have a limit on their net connection for how much they can download in a given period of time.
