I recently bought land in Perry and I love it but all the teaching that goes on there is starting to get me. I love the fact that there is teaching in SL and I attended every class i could when I started up but once a class starts I have to avoid Perry for at least an hour cos it wipes the sim out big time. Twenty odd people all rezzing objects or scripting at once tends to have slightly negative affects on my movement, and sanity . I wouldn't mind if it was just now and again but it seems to be getting popular there and i'm concerned I'll have to move. So what I propose is this, move all the teaching stands across SL into one or two dedicated teaching sims. It'll free up all the sims with teaching stands in and at least u can be prepared to enter lag hell if u enter the sim when theres scripting, building and texturing all being taught at once On the other hand.... Love ya All!!!! xxx

This is an interisting idea, I wouldn't mind seeing it done. Wasn't it mentioned that all classes used to be taught in open fields? A teaching sim could have different areas set up for different classes, some open fields for building, some spots to show examples of stuff, and whatever else areas you'd need for whatever else. I like this idea actualy.

i've suggested this before. i expect others have too. it really does make sense for the lindens to set up a teaching island without borders.

I think at some point this is going to have to be worth the infrastructure costs to LL. Adding a sim isn't just about just flipping a switch, there are costs involved. I can't imagine what it must be like living in Perry.. oh, wait, I'm on a slow machine, yes.. I can. But, yeah, a teaching sim.. that's a great idea!! I second that.

I agree. I've taught in Perry, and I don't think the sim can handle the crowd. Whenever I have more than 20 people at one of my classes, we usually have massive packet loss when it comes time for everyone to rez a prim.

Once upon a time, the teaching area in Perry was pretty much surrounded by open fields
