Ok. The land barons are onto something with their land scanners.

I got to building today, and realized I was quickly running out of prims in my sim.

I went to the Land Find window, and lo, could not figure out a way of searching by sim. I doubt I would have found land, but I would have had a hard time finding it if it were for sale. Lag in the sim is a bit bad, what with the constant beach parties 'n all. (I'm not moving, I got this land at L$1/m.)

That said... once the new built-in auction system is in place, maybe we could have an automatic alert system for if/when a sim goes up for auction that fits the criteria we specify? Including sim name(s) or terrain type or GlobalCoordinate ranges?

Mole has this been announced by LL?

Land is returning to auction status rather than public. I suppose that's what I meant instead.

It's easy to search a sim.

THe map

Just go to the land for sale page. Any land for sale in your sim shows up colored. You just walk or fly to the plot, click the title at the top, and voila! You get a box telling you the status of the land.

It doesn't work so well for auction plots, since you still have to go to the auction site and search for it, but it helps.

The map is only updated once every 24 hours or something like that, but you have a point.

There needs to be an easier way to directly access the auction site from within SL. If I'm on a plot of land, I want to at least be able to see what the current bidding's at, though I don't think it's worth bothering to let us bid directly in the SL client yet... it's too much hassle and too little payoff.

The Find menu needs to be better integrated with the website. If I want to see all auctions below L$n/m, or in a certain size range, I can't do that from the auctions page.

If the "track on map" hyperlink feature wasn't broken, that'd be a huge start. You'd be able to see the parcel on the map.

As for the map textures, they need to be on the website too. Even if they're only generated every 24 hours, they're still a hell of a lot newer than http://secondlife.com/map/. This all seems like pretty obvious and useful stuff to me.
