Calling Cards

I'd like to propose a new feature that would allow you to give other peoples' calling cards away. Doing so should give the recipient the ability to do and see anything they could through the find functions, without having to remember the name and look it up themselves.

Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Thanks,

Great Idea! This would make things much easier. Also It would be nice to add someone as a friend without having to be next to them. Maybe an add to friend button on each persons profile?

I like Folk's idea. I do not feel like it's a good idea to have Add Friend button on the profile though. I do not want anyone who just run upon my name in the Find window Add Friend me.

I like the idea of having calling cards work like real cards: you can pass them on to other people, but I think there should be a permission setting to allow or deny that. So if I have a store, I can allow my customers to pass my card along. Or if I give a card to someone, I can set it to No Copy/No Transfer, or something like that so they can only keep it to themselves.

I would also like an option to Give Calling Card to Object. Sometimes in RL restaurants you'll see a fishbowl by the cashier. People drop their cards in it for a chance to win a free lunch, or gift certificate, or something. I'd like to be able to do that in SL.

Another use for that would be a drop-box where people could drop their cards to apply a job, enter a raffle, request to be added to a group, or to get future product updates. That way, you don't need to be face-to-face to receive calling cards.

I don't like the Add Friend button idea...too many newbs offering friendship to everyone they see as it is now. Very annoying.

Read yourself, the OP didn't mention anything about what I was responding to. It was the second post.

Then quote it. You were reply to a post several up from yours and the one just above yours was "don't like the button."

Well, most people who read the other poster's comments would have the logical sense to know whom I was referring to, since it was the only other post on the topic. The three posts I followed wasn't 'don't like the button', it was 'don't like the button idea', and I said it's already there, which makes my post relevant to the previous posters.

Here, lemme make it easy for you since you don't wanna read.

I suggest you take your own advice and read what is said. Hell, you're the one who even said the OP didn't want the button when it wasn't mentioned. Nice to be critical of others. lol I'm sorry, forum Nazi, for not following your rules.

You know, I'm sick of following my dreams, man. I'm just going to ask where they're going and hook up with 'em later. - M.H.

I think when I typed OP I hadn't actually scrolled to the OP (or the one I was refering to was the newest in the thread and hadn't scrolled up). My mistake on that one. Still, if you arne't replying directly it's better to quote, as people will read, think, "that's in reply to..." scroll up one post, "...this one. Wait, that doesn't make any sense, what the heck are they replying to?"

I also am used to a threadless posting medium (one where the post one up in the thread may or may not be at my imediate access and where there may be 14 replies in direct reponce to a post each having 2 direct replies and then direct replies to those--very very branchy) and have no idea what's being replied to and that quoted text is a must.
