Wouldn't it be nice to have a program that you could IM people in/out of game via logging in using a messaging program? Kind of like Everquest did a while back. You would log in just like you do in secondlife using your SL name.

This was actually planned a year ago, but the Lindens made the mistake of asking the community for feedback. The FORUM community. Yeah.
![]() Personally, I think it's a great idea, and I hope the Lindens consider at least documenting the messaging protocol for 3rd-party developers at some point. It wouldn't be on my top ten, but if it was part of a more robust IM status and contacts management system, it just might make it. ![]() _____________________

I think this is something we'll see later one once the instant-messaging and chat protocols are cleaned up. It's been my impression in these sorts of things that they want to clean up the interfaces before letting us have a crack at them.

The easiest way I know how to do this presently is by rigging Second Life to a hotmail account, then setting MSN to use it.
It's not full IM support, but hell if it isn't close! ![]() _____________________
