I'd like some functionality where you could pick two parallel surfaces via some kind of shift-clicking, and ask for alignment of their surfaces, with the first surface being picked as the target, and the second surface the object to be aligned. It would be invaluable in aligning detail prims or other constructs without having to resort to calculations, speeding overall build time. If you don't get what I mean, then that is ok, you'd probably never use it  For your consideration, linden lab.

I support this product and/or service as I spend most of my building time fixing alignment. However, it is likely pretty hard to implement as the alignment point on a twisted, sheared box is a little vague.

Yes, a twisted object would be very complex. I'd settle for perpendicular surface alignment first. I don't know how achievable any other type would be.

Let me rehash the question into something else:
How do you propose LL do something like this while being able to retain the existing prim system and keep the amount of data to stream down?
