Object Texture Idea

Depending on the reaction here I'd like to propose this to the vote later.

Proposal:
To be able to texture each face of an object individually.

I understand that this would create more lag when jumping into a new area, but is would also remove some current lag, hopefully balancing the issue.

There would be more lag due to having to load a different texture for each face (ie. 6 textures for a cube and so on), but due to being able to place multiple textures it would remove the need for multiple objects in the same (very close) area of space being textured differently (ie. walls and Floors/ceilings: having 2 prims textured differently- internal/external and upper/lower faces.

Any comment pls feel free :)

Ps, if this dosen't make sense forgive me and let me know as its early.

Carl,

You can do this already ... right click the object to edit it, pick the texture option in the build dialog box (not logged into sl, so forget the wording) and you can pick individual faces and texture them till your heart's content.

"Select Texture"

Also, you can drag a texture onto a given face of a prim.
