I think there should have some CHANGING ROOM for us if we want to change clothes... use changing room its better than change clothes in front lot of people -- you know not all of them have their own house to change there. Just like walmart have changing rooms, you put clothes on in changing room. Perhaps add mirror too.. if possible so we can see ourself in front what it looks like when putting new clothes on?

This sounds kinda like There.com, how you had to go to a spa in order to treat your av out. In SL, you can change just about ANYWHERE, but as you suggest, there are certain privacy implications that come along with it. You know what I want? Better previews for clothing and objects, richer IM chat that isn't just textonly... a way to make metametaverses. You could come up with a personal "white room" like "The Construct" and then temporarily change stuff around in there to visualize it better. It is rather harsh we can't preview clothing before wearing it! Especially with the rezzing times... eh. MIRROR VIEW = GOOODNESS!

Hehe, I have a changing Tent attachment you can have. Pop it on and you have a 3m tent around you. You can use the camera controls to see inside while you change (of course others can too, but at least it's some privacy). You can even stand on a posing stand with it. IM me if you'd like one.

I don't see it as a big deal.. I suppose because I'm a big furry snow leopard that normally doesn't have nipples or a vagina... to change around anyone and everyone.
Although I really believe it's due to several reasons.
1) It's an online game. I'm not really stripping my clothes off in front of strangers. 2) My avatar looks WAY better than I do in RL! 3) Mature area's mean that others have the maturity to ignore what your doing, or simply realize your trying on a new shirt or undershirt and Oops.. it's see thru in some area's and you didn't realize that because in the low res image you bought it from, you couldn't quite tell !! So you rip it off, only to be left completely shirt or pantsless as the case may entail. That's happened to me before.. I'm looking to just take something off, and because it doesn't auto swap with what you were last wearing.. well your left in the nude. 4) They sell naked "Skins" to be used on your avatar. They post pictures of them up in stores.. and those stores aren't all limited to some sort of red light district. 5) I don't feel it's that embarassing. 6) Just because your naked while changing, doesn't mean your making a porn movie in front of everyone. 7) You have the ability just like everyone else, to relocate your avatar temporarily, or cover it up with a privacy screen of some kind, to help alleviate any concerns you may have.

Most people fly up in the air, change then come back down. People rarely look up in the game and it is a quick way to get some privacy. You can always rezz a box, hollow it out and use it as a changing booth.
The ideal situation to be able to try on clothing it to set up a huge shopping mall in a separate grid like the Preview grid and rent space there for vendors to allow people to try on clothes, test drive vehicles and whatnot. Put a time limit on your ability to stay there so folks can't just take up resedence and not go to the main grid. I think this would solve a lot of problems.

Sometimes you need to change in public.

I have a group of avs (tinies) that I change between as part of the narrative of my character in SL: a burning phoenix (based on the Extrovirtual phoenix), a smoking phoenix (based on the Extrovirtual black bird) when I have an "oops, flamed out" problem, and a firefighter (Extrovirtual dalmatian with a fireman's helmet) to "take care of that problem, sir".

More to the point...

When I change clothes in SL, the avatar goes directly from one set of clothes to another. I've can't recall ever seeing the underlying avatar skin show between one outfit and the next.

I have really never seen a need for this myself. When I change I just put the new stuff on and then wait a few seconds to take anything off that I need to. In fact, I have never seen my av totally nekkie, the closest I have been to that is wearing a bikini lol.
