how about a material setting that allows the prim to glow like the light prim but casts no light on to surrounding surfaces?
i know there is one surface that can be coloured black but often i need that surface to not be black. plus, from my understanding, that black light is still requiring video processing for a lightless light.

See Prop 11, 50 votes, Prop 68, with 12 votes, and Prop 546, which currently has 16 votes. I think it's a great idea, but it's got a way to go before it makes the cut list, looks like, even combining the three equivalent proposals (and I wish LL would do that).
