ok my suggestion for this month is a two parter. first a great addition to SL would be an expansion on the mp3 music streaming to add support for OGG vorbis streams. from what i have heard playing, around with my icecast server, the quality of OGG streams is much higher then mp3. OGG streams also have variable bitrates. As far as i know SL already uses OGG vorbis for normal uploaded sounds. so unless there are conflicts with the existing sound system adding OGG streaming would be simple. well at least in my humble only-basic-programing-skills opinion.
another great addition to sl would be binoculars. they would function like binoculars or sniper scopes in FPS games work allowing you to zoom in on distant ppl or objects that are too far away to be selected and zoomed in on with the normal camera. you obviously wouldnt be able to select the objects being viewed with the binoculars.

Panther, AFAIK, Second Life can stream OGG music -- try it for yourself. I am not sure about inworld binocular objects, but try hitting Ctrl-0 a bunch of times (and Ctrl-9 to reset view) when you really want to get up close and personal. Also, camscanning helps. Cheers.

A script-controlled camera FOV setting would be awesome, I think, 'cause then we could make things like binoculars or rifle-scopes. w00t

about my first suggestion, ogg streams, the fact i didnt know SL already supported it shows how much i pay attention
my binoculars suggestion still stands. the standard way of zooming in SL is fine for building. what im talking about is being able to Zoom in on distant objects using an attachement like binoculars. it would be cool to look across a sim or even two sims at a group of ppl or who knows maybe it could be used to view builds that are high in the air. imagine being in a sim and using a telescope to view an extreamly high altitude spaceship build in nearby sim
