Can streaming video be sent into SL?? That would be very very cool to impliment a cinema or something else. I know that would be heavy in bandwidth and probably the solution could be to make the prim providing the stream worth a certain number of prims, like maybe count for 5 or 10 prims, to avoid abuse in the sim.

I thought of this too last night while I was brainstorming - Something I do too often. But it could be done like how the Music is done. With a link for the video a person could also open a webcam link and stream it. But a big problem with this too, is who's to say that someone wouldn't stream porn...

I guess that would be regulated by the same terms as everything else with PG and Mature.. It's more of a centinel type of reinforcement. Anyone sees porn on a (or visible from a ) PG SIM then it should be reported. I loved the webcam idea!!

Casval said something about this to me: what about inworld webcams showing people what's going on inside of Second Life, for people who can't log in ATM or are curious about it? Would make for sort of a voyeuristic activity but we could have an inworld "Big Brother" house or put a camera at a public place like the Welcome Area and all watch.
Also, on the topic of video streaming, if that's too bandwidth intensive, maybe additional possibilities could be considered, like Flash/Shockwave files for added interactivity within simulated replicas of devices like arcade game cabinets, computer workstations, and of course, TVs.

I'd not mind animated gifs.... as long as they were limited. Say, 1 meg in size, or 100 anim frames, etc... This would be a BOON for people that wanted to animate clothes textures or the like. (IE Luskwood's blinking eyes on the heads) and would negate the need for texture alignment scripts. Just my L$2.

The flash would be kewl because you could use the HTML features in it to post stuff to a site. Using the Post and Get methods. Could do stuff like inworld e-mail or a lot of other ideas for games could arise.

I am against any serious form of video streaming, unless there was a user option to turn it off (like audio streaming).
Not everyone has cable connections with huge amounts of bandwidth to throw at this world, and most video streams are well known for requiring large chunks of bandwidth.

I don't see why not, after all... they are both streaming and bandwith intensive. And the webcam thing.. imagine the possibilities! You're at your SL SOHO, while you flip on an inworld computer screen and you see a webcam feed of your baby sleeping in the second floor... and also catch a glimse of who's meddling in your front lawn!
