I suppose this would be a feature most useful to whole-sim owners, as opposed to those of us who own relatively small plots (or, if you're like me, stupidly-small plots; 21 prim limit w00t!), but it'd be interesting if one could generate a bmp or tga heightmap, upload that, and then have SL use this data to terraform the entire plot/sim/whatever in one go. I know a lot of 3D terrain modellers have this feature (Terragen comes to mind, neat stuff that :).

Dammit, stop stuffing your faces with turkey, you Yanks, and reply to my thread! Or at least share the turkey with me. I love turkey. Mmm, tryptophan... :D

/endorsed but probably impossible. sims use a single terrain prim based on a single raw file.

feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

If you own a sim you already can! Anyone buy me a sim so I can test that out? :)

Yeah, what he said. Though its not as simple as a traditional heightmap. SL heightmaps have to have several layers. I have a large file about it if anyone's interested. But it's all a bunch of technical mumbo jumbo.

Now that you mention it, yeah, I do vaguely remember reading about heightmappish sorts of things already being implemented. Hey, what can I say? Loose-brained vixen and all that. :D

OBTurkey: Oddly enough, my cat doesn't like raw turkey. I thought all cats liked raw turkey. She's an odd one though. :p
