Traveling around SL today I found a cool sim that I had never seen, Bora Bora.

A wonderful place to visit if you haven't.

While there, this idea came to mind.

A special web page on SecondLife.com where SL Sim Owners can post a couple photos and description of their sim...

...and here is the fun part, there would be a button that allows SL members to pre-download that particular sims textures, sounds, etc. and a direct link to the sim.

Now, when the SL member goes to the sim, the experience would be more immediate.

Linden Lab could charge members a fee in $L to pre-download these packets.

Much like YouTube, members could rate and/or comment on each participating sim and the directory could be searchable by "popular" or "newest" etc.

I would like it because I could choose a couple fun places to visit, get the downloads while working and then, when I have my freetime, jump right into these cool places quickly.

p.s. I am sure there are some technical hurdles.

I have been to Bora Bora before and it is beautiful. I love this idea and also think it should be implemented. Personally, I am getting 3 meg cable and a new motherboard, processor, power supply, and more RAM within the next couple of weeks, but downloading all of the textures and whatnot ahead of time would definately help. Except, what happens if the Bora Bora owners update it, etc... (and what about vendors)?
