The recent addition of parcel control of pushing is great! It would also be great to see a little polish added to the feature.
1) More and more people are turning on "Push Restriction" on their parcels. When turned on, a small No-Push icon appears in the title bar. It would make more sense to treat this ability like Damage Enabled land. Suggestion: Display an icon when Push is enabled. This would alert you to the possibility of being pushed more clearly than the lack of a "No Push" icon.
2) When you click on the No Push icon, a dialog informs you "This land is "llPushObject Restricted. You cannot push others here unless you own the land." Mentioning an LSL programming function in a user message is a little geeky, plus it does not match the wording on the About Land/Options tab. Suggestion: Change the wording of the message to: "You cannot push others here unless you own the land. See About Land/Options/Push Restriction."

I would think "push" would be understood as walking into someone and moving them that way, which is of course possible. Perhaps "push using a scripted object"?

Yes, I agree about the wording of the dialog text. Something about scripted object would be nice, as long as it doesn't get totally geekly (like llPushObject). I'm not the best at wording these things, just wanted to get some ideas on the table.
I also realized ... mentioning the exact spot of About Land/Options/Push Restriction is not a great idea. First, it really doesn't help the average user much, plus it will eventually get out of synch when the UI changes.
Other suggestions?

Youre a little slow there, bud.
All those suggestions are already on SL since 1.11.3 update.

Yes, both of these are already in, it's great when wishes come true.

No, it displays an icon when push is *dis*abled, not when it's *en*abled. This is backwards from other warning icons, in that the icon pops up when you're "in danger", not when you're "safe".

On the other hand, it seems better to have icons appear in the less frequent, "unusual" circumstance. I don't know what the statistics are for the area of the grid which is push restricted or not, but I'm guessing push restricted is less.

That's actually why I'd rather have it show up when push is enabled. Just about everywhere I go is push restricted, including Linden-owned land.

Vincent and Torley: Could you describe how these suggestions have been implemented? I think Argent has a handle on some of the confusion though. I just tried things with version 1.12.0 (15), and they behave as I described in my initial post. I will also try to restate my suggestions more clearly.
1) Suggestion: When you are in a Push-Enabled parcel, display a "You Can Be Pushed" icon in the menu bar. This would replace the "No Pushing" icon currently displayed in a Push-Restricted parcel. Reasoning: The possibility of being pushed is highlighted more clearly by the presence of an icon.
2) Suggestion: Revise the wording of the help text for the "Push" alert icon. This would be aided by switching to a Push-Allowed icon. Perhaps it could say something like: "In this parcel, scripted objects may forcibly throw you long distances. To avoid this, sit down or leave the parcel." Or some better wording that someone suggests. Reasoning: The current message that mentions "llPushObject" and uses a common word (push) with a special meaning would not be helpful to a new Second Life resident.
Current dialog text: This land is "llPushObject Restricted". You cannot push others here unless you own the land.

Oh.... uh, now it's like you're asking Mircosoft to change "My Computer" icon to "My PC" icon.
How can they be confusing?

More like asking Microsoft to change "Start" to "Programs" or just an icon. Oh yeh, people have been doing that for 10 years. Icons that are up there all the time (because the normal state of public land is "no push" are distracting, and make it harder to notice that there are *new* icons there. Also, making the icon come on for "Push" will make it more likely that people who don't know about it will wonder why there's an icon set on their own land... and perhaps investigate and realise that if they turn push off they'll be less susceptible to abuse.
