In my daily work I use Quark - layout program and in that we have something that i miss in the building section of SL...

Steap and Repeat = are what i says.. your object can be repeated many times and on specifix measurement - up or down.. left or right..

Space Alingn are more interesting as it can join objects - specific at the left side or the right or.. or place it in center..

I know thats Quark are a 2D software but I still wish (Yes i belive in Santa - He comes every year with Christmas presents to me THE 24th!!!:-DD)..

When do we get that in SL?

Oh, and as to your question, sorry, missed it.

Holding shift while moving the position, will make you a copy. Snap to grid will help you with the sapcing.

I know - tks anyway - but in Quark as you know you can decide how many copies you want and where to put them.. maybe a 0,8 mm or 4.5 or 78 mm betewen the objects.. you choose..

The Align are more interesting to get. click on 2 objects and chose where to align them. left up down or middle.. as an example..

Align and Distribute, Choice of Handles
07-16-2005 02:06
We should have commands like Left Align, Center Align, and Right Align; we should be able to select the handles that would be used, for example, whether we want to align the left edge of an object with the center of another object.

We need a distribute command, which works like this: put the object at one end of the series where it goes, put the object at the other end of the series where it goes, then select the objects in the order they are to be distributed in and select distribute , voila, the objects move into equally spaced positions , with the first and last ones right where you put them.

It is so annoying using these commands all day at work and then coming to SL and having to do it all manually.

The step and repeat idea is just like one of the features in the program I use at work, it is nice and handy.

Of course one can do these things manually, the suggestion is for a way to avoid doing things manually which can be done instantly by the program.

I agree a Step and Repeat tool would be nice, but it IS possible to do it now using llRezObject and llSetPos.
