Some ways land could work, based on other ideas people have suggested or just crazy stuff from myself.

- Replace Release with two buttons Auction, and Release. Auction imediatly puts the land up for auction (once implemented users can also select if *theyd* like to get the auction money or if LL gets the winning bid), an approval dialog is displayed to make sure the user wants to do this.

Release, The land goes into "Holding mode", in this mode the land is public, but only to the last owner, which is only the last owner can buy it between the time they hit Release and the time it goes to auction. After a certain ammount of time of being in Holding Mode the land then goes to auction. When the land is Released the user gets a prompt to make sure they understand this, and also if they aren't online when the land is auto-released by the system for some reason (and if Governor doesn't catch it), they get an email about it.

The only problem I can see with this is people exploiting "Holding" to use it to get out of teirs and such somehow. Maybe only allow one land in Holding at a time? Or don't allow land to be baught while you have one in Holding?

While sadly this does make Public Land non-existant, I think its something needed at this time. How would users transfer land directly to eachother?

- Selling land. Selling would work somewhat like it does currently, you can mark your land for sale for anyone, or mark it to just one person, you could mark your land for sale for 0$L, anything below 4L$ per meter and the user should get a prompt, I dunno what it should say, but something like "HEY! If you sell it that low someone usefull would be able to buy it, but a land barron will just come along and resell it for higher anyway!" to let the user know they're doing something thats too nice in the current world.

Optionaly the user should be able to check if they want to approve of the buyer or not (was suggested in another thread by Unhygienix Gullwing), when selling the land there would be a checkbox "Approve Of Buyer" or some sort, when checked, and when someone goes to buy the land you will recieve a "Soand So wants to buy your land in *coords* for *ammount*, do you approve?" if yes, then the person gets the land, if no then the person gets a message saying that the seller does not approve of them buying the land and to look elsewere. While this does make buying land more of a hassle sometimes, if people don't like it they can just not try and buy land set like that. At any time during the "waiting period" for approval to buy the land, the buyer can cancel the buy request (Somehow through My Land, have a "waiting to buy" list or some sort). This is so you aren't locked into a deal that you realize you don't want to do or the other person is taking too long for you. Of course this is *optional*, you can also select to not have any approval window and just let anyone buy your land.

If you want to freely transfer land to someone, you would mark it for sale at 0$L to only them, this actualy works better than setting it to public and having them buy it, because this way only *they* can buy it.

- In-world auction system. While this isn't with the actual land, it is part of the land system, and having it incorporated into the land buying would make it alot easier. Lets say you look up Auctions in find, it should list the current highest bid for each plot, you can then place a bid directly from the GUI. Also lets say you're flying around looking for land, and you find a spot you like, you right click it and go to buy it, but instead of Buy, it says Bid with the current highest bid price somewhere. If the user presses Bid they will get a diolog with the auction info for that parcel where they can *actualy* place a bid (so the Bid button in the About/Edit land box is just sending you to the auction info dialog). All the current auction features would be in the GUI, proxy bidding, etc. Also you could optionaly ask to recieve notice about major changes and/or closes on auctions, then when someone outbids you by 1000 or if the auction closes you get a dialog box letting you know what happened so you can stay up to date.

I think the auctions should also still have a webpage interface that way people at work or who can't login to SL at the moment can still watch/participate in bidding, but it should all be integrated with in-world tools also.

Thats about it for now that I can think of.
