This isn't a feature suggestion for SL so much as it's a feature suggestion for the forums. I believe I've mentioned it before as part of another post, but I decided to make it a post by itself.

If you have ever been to the City of Heroes boards, you might know that they have a forum feature called the "Dev Digest". The way this works is, every so often (I thought it was every fifteen minutes, but someone else recently said it was an hour) a script runs, checking for new posts made by certain people. It adds a link to each post that it finds into the Dev Digest forum.

This makes it simple (especially for those who go to the boards primarily to find new game info from the devs) to keep track of what they have posted, without having to do searches on every single dev name or read every forum on their boards to keep up.

I'd like to see such a feature here. Call it the Linden List, or whatever.

Personally, I'd suggest omitting anything in SL Answers from the results, if only because the nature of that forum would spam the tracker, burying posts from other forums (which are the ones that this would be most beneficial for). Two places to search (Linden List and SL Answers) isn't much harder than one, and it's still a lot better than "look at nearly every forum" or "run searches on each Linden manually".

Edit: the reason this occurred to me is because I randomly chanced upon Kelly Linden's recent post in General, and it reminded me that people who didn't go there right when it got posted or skipped over the thread because the title sounded ranty could easily miss being informed about upcoming stuff. Maybe not so signficant in this case, but I've seen others simply weren't aware of an informative Linden post until someone else linked to it.

I don't know how to do this on vBulletin--does anyone here? :) But I do like the sound of how this idea would make it easier to find Linden posts.

However, I think in addition to subject lines, to have a short summary or the first few characters of the actual post--much as doing a search currently shows--would help provide context. It looks like there's a large volume of posts, and categorizing that info to make it more accessible would help TONS.

Also, some things of use--and re-use, like frequently asked questions, are going to be increasingly posted on the official Linden blog so they don't get missed, and if they get missed the first time, they're easily searchable.

Thanx for sharing, Dyne. :)

I don't think it's a function built into the forum software, even on CoH's site. I think they have written a php or whatever script that builds that list.

I could be wrong, though.

Edit: Since I'm already making comparisons, I should also add that dev names there are displayed in a different color (red), which makes it easier to find them in a long thread. You wouldn't be able to tell that just from the forum I linked, obviously, but it should become apparent by wandering around.
