It'd be kind of nice if I could set ALL windows in SL (not just non-active ones) to be semi-transparent. I wouldn't mind being able to see who's staring at my avatar while I've got my nose buried in a script window.

Cross, you can do this already with some manual "hacking", if you look in your main Second Life folder (wherever you installed SL too), and in the app_settings folder there will be a file called "colors.ini" and another called "colors_base.ini", you can open up the base, copy it, then paste it into colors.ini and edit it to change things. However to change them all takes awhile and some experimentation.
Luckly, I've done this already for my own use (like you, I like to see whose behind my windows easily). So attached is what I have, just open it up, copy it, and then paste it in your colors.ini, save, then load up SL (or restart it if its already open, some GUI doesn't change untill on restart).
I've not modified anything else other than most of the transparencies for windows. Some things remain untransparencied because they can't be, such as images, map image, etc.
However, I do highly agree with this idea, and there should be a much easier way to do this, an in-world GUI option to edit the GUI options that you can do with colors.ini would be nice. As well as being able to skin stuff when implemented.
