Catagorize Friends List

Have you ever wanted to contact all of your gamer friends only to find that they are mixed in with your party/sex partners? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to catagorize your friends list so you know who is who at a glance? Would it be possible to set a number of catagories and rename them to your preferences? Never wonder how or why someone is on your list in the first place! Just a thought!

Yes, and it's been previously suggested.

what I dont like is that you meet a new person, any person and just because you say hi and talk some quick words, they send you their cards to add you. I wish there is a way to stop that, but I know that is impossible. I feel bad, sometimes saying, "no, I dont want your card, I just met you"

Notes in Profile

I know this isn't the same, but it could serve the same purpose as long as your proposal isn't implemented (I sometimes (mis-?)use it for cat):

There's a Notes Tab in everyones Profile, where you can place your personal notes concerning the according person. These notes are only visible to you, so nobody else (including the person who's profile it is) will ever be able to read it.

A bit more complicated than your proposal, but much more flexible as you can enter any written information you want. And it's already available.

Better than nothing...

That is a good idea if the catagorization can't be implemented. Much more time consuming but it would be better than nothing......

You do know that you can already do this already, right?

in your calling cards directory, create sub folders.... For the sake of an example, let's call one "gamer friends". Copy into that sub folder, the calling cards of all your gamer friends. Now you can IM all of them at once, by IM'ing that sub folder. This is called a conference. They can reply to your conference and everyone connected will see the reply, just as if it had been a group IM. The can also close that conference, disconnecting themselves from it.

I'll concede the point that it is not quite what you were probably thinking of; You were probably thinking of something that shows up on the friends list.

in other words... turn it into AOL's IM buddy list.

I agree, thumbs up.

Forget friends list, I'd just like to be able to be *invisable* to my friends on the list some days. When I"m building. It would be nice, to just go invisable until I"m through. That way, I don't have to offend the ones I love.

Now that's what I call a suggestion to add along with it, not just forget it. :P
