An option to isolate land from external chat.

This would do 2 things:
1) make chat (including shouts) on a piece of land not seen outside the land.
2) make those in the land not see chat (including shouts) from outside the land.

BENEFITS
-----------
This would allow people to have private houses, and hold conversations in their houses without distractions from outside, or worrying about what others may hear.

For more advanced users it would enable people the ability to partition a piece of their land and make a "sound proof" area

You could live by a casino or other loud area and not hear all the annoying shouts or chats

MORE INFORMATION
------------------------
If you are worried about possible confusion that may occur of people wondering why someone near them standing on the other side of a land boundry cannot hear them, you could allow all chat (and that includes shouts) only to progress a very short distance across the land boundry for example 5m.

I have been wondering that from day one. I looked for months for a script that did that and no one told me it didn't exist. With all the wonderful things created in SL why hasn't that been made? I had to sell my land and move because a damn Slingo hall went up next to my beautiful property and I couldn't even hold a conversation with all the spam.

Another advantage would be chat/shout noisy places like casinos and clubs wouldnt have to annoy all their neighboors as they could restrict that chat/shout to their own land.
The neighboors wouldnt have to do anything as the casino or club could use the feature to restrict its own noise.

I think this would be incredibly useful! Being able to isolate your property from external sounds (chat or audio), or being able to keep properties external to yours from hearing YOUR sounds, would be a godsend. Just because I live in a Japanese traditional style home with paper walls, that doesn't mean I wouldn't appreciate privacy. ;)

Personally, I'd love to see two versions of this - one to set such limits at property lines, and one to set such limits within the confines of a prim. That way you could place a transparent, phantom prim around a bedroom, to make mature conversations within it remain private! Using the limits of an enclosing prim as the boundry would also be useful for renters in apartments who seek privacy from their neighbors.

There is still a real need for this.

Ever been annoyed by those automated shouting scripts that tell you someone has won something in the parcel of land a few parcels away from where you are standing.

This could prevent that problem.

MMmm, or:

Jack Arse shouts: My girl is in bed and wet, I need to go attend to her ;)

And yes, I really did see a shout like that. There was a whole conversation that went on between too people who didn't SHUT UP when I shouted (politely, shout is the term of how it got to them) at them to stop shouting accross the Sim and go to IM. That line was the almost-end of it.

Like I needed to know that Jack was going to go "play" with his girl friend.
