It's great having one location ("home";) you can TP directly to, but it would be helpful to have perhaps up to 3 locations for direct teleportation instead of going thru telehubs. For example, I have shops/vendors in 5 different sims, so if I could even have 2 more direct links in addition to my "home" landmark, it would make managing my inventory at each site faster and easier :D

I agree, let us have perhaps up to 5 teleport locations. This could be stored client-side, and not waste server resources.

I would vote for three direct teleport locations. This would give adequate access (in most cases) to land that you own. I would also vote to allow land permission options to allow others to set their home to your land.

I'd either do one or both of these...

Make it so you can teleport to the center of EVERY plot of land you own thats listed in the My land list (Like the Teleport button tooltip says).

And

Make it so you can directly teleport to any of your Picks in your profile.

Also I'd make direct teleports to ANY landmark possible, but thats just me and my nutty ideas.

this is not really a "feature" that they have to "work out." the code already exists. we're not allowed to teleport directly to landmarks for a reason.

the telehubs were inveneted to be centers of business. the idea was that, as we lsft a hub to get where we were going, we'd see "wonderful new store" and stop to shop. it doesn't happen, not that i've seen. it's really just a meaningless incovenience.

ll is usually pretty good about coming around and admiting that something didn't work as planned and no longer makes sense. this will be a quick and easy fix too. and it'll create more good will in the community than streaming music did.

Telehubs don't work as you say because people can fly, and flying is faster than walking ever could be.

The first thing people do when the teleport somewhere is turn to face the landmark and take-off, leaving before the buildings even rez.

Telehubs serve two purposes:

A: They provide centers of the world. On-telehub property is very convenient, making it ideal for clubs and shops not because people will stop and shop, but because it has the least travel time. Off-hub property is best for homes and other places that aren't so public.

B: They are an anti-grief tool. Can you imagine the inconvenience if everybody teleported to the exact same spot at once? More irritatingly would be if people did things like set events that are labeled as a popular place, but leads to a sealed box or an instant-death script.

Telehubs do what they were meant to. Land near them is more valuable, land farther away is less. Having relative worth helps keep prices in check. (Yeah, yeah, you think prices are too high. Well, they could be even higher, you know.)

But I'm all in favor of being able to teleport to your own land. You payed for it, after all. That should be a perk.

And there should be some means to let people that don't own land to set their home to someplace other than the welcome area, where it starts. Either set your home anywhere that's flagged to allow it (with or without a fee attached), or set your home to any Linden-owned land (a sort of public works service), or let land owners make a list of who can set their home there for free. (Then use the same list to only allow those people to build, etc, maybe...)

i agree with Tiger Crossing... We should be allowed TP to our own land or even a TP to any land that we have permission to place our objects on (eg if we have vendor space at a mall).

although i think 'flying' is a mavelouse invention... it does mean that people are always up in the air and not down amongst the actual business on the ground.
This sometimes makes it hard to find som1 (lol) cause they can be newhere from 0 - 100 metres from the spot they show on the radar.

i always think that certain privaledges should be 'earned' and flying being one of them.
perhaps restrict the ability to fly until you have so many + ratings and a certain amount of friends. this would increase the traffic on roads meaning the land near roads would increase in value and hopefully we would get to know a few more people/places on the ground (lol)
PLUS the vehicle sales would rise and we'd maybe see some nicer cars than someof the curent 'boxes' (although there r some creators out there whos work is magnificent! good work)

this is just my oppinion, not a rant, not a complaint, the games cool and i think at this stage in the game, anything LL does will be great but as we all know; even in real life... what's an idea feature to one person might not be so another as we are all individuals (LOL this posts gettin cornier by the word! LOL)

Landless players can set also their home to group land. But, not all groups have land. There is a work around, but its cumbersome, it should be easier to allow people to set their home where they want.

When I had an apartment, I went through this process to allow residents to set their home near their new apartment. I created an unlisted group, then deeded a 4x4 plot to it. I would invite the new resident to join the group. They could then set their home to the small plot of group land. Once their home position was set, I kicked them out of the group. As long as they didnt set their home somewhere else, that would always be their home.

Like I said, you can get it done, it just ought to be easier.

Respectfully Alan, I beg to differ. Teleportation is the marvelous invention created by Linden Lab. Flying is as natural as walking or breathing. I have been flying ever since I was a little girl and, even though the Lindens have given us the power to restrict flight, would never want that to be taken away.

I and my family lost the ability to fly after The Great Erase and we have been without that (and a lot more) for more than 30 years. You can't imagine what it's like not being able to fly after you had done it all your life.* When we returned here earlier this year it was like a weight was lifted from me.

I love the convenience the telehubs provide and, i agree, it would be nice to be able to directly teleport to more than just my home location. But even more... I love to fly to where I'm going, even if it takes a little longer.

Valdora

*or perhaps you can. I shouldn't assume!

I like telehubs when I want to use them, they're a nice place to just stand around and people watch, and good for a starting point when exploring. More often than not people build things that make sense around them, but thats not always the case either.

However, I hate telehubs when I want to get somewhere fast. More than usual I hate telehubs than I like them. I rarely stop and look at the shops around (if they've even rezzed by the time I'm gone). More often than not you teleport in and end up hitting someone as you're trying to get to your destination. Its annoying trying to fly up sometimes when you have the roof above you. They slow you down at the worst times.

I don't think telehubs should be taken out, but I want the *choice* to use them, not to be forced. Telehubs are one of the few things in SL that you are forced to use, and I don't like that. One thing I like about SL is that you more often than not have options over everything, you can make your own choice. So when I want to use a telehub I should be able to, however when I don't want to use a telehub I should also have that choice.

what's the latest on having more than one teleport home?

I recall this being issue being debated more recently than this post, but am unable to find anything. As I recall a linden had put forth the question for debate and that it was an upcoming feature. Anyone remember or know the status?
