An offline instant messenger.

When I'm not able to get onto Second Life for instance, at work or at an Internet Cafe on Vacation, it would be nice to have something better than instant messages through e-mail that only last 3 days from your inbox and then expire.

Perhaps an instant messenger to get in touch with people on your friends list or a way to send messages to people in game.

Check the forums, I've seen this request once before *this week* and mentioned in *that thread* that someone actually made a working SLIM client, albeit lacking who was on your friends list and if they were online or not (and someone else has a tool that shows your friends' online status).
