How many people here use Windows? *counts hands*. Okay, and Mac *counts hands, throws a brick at one of them*. Linux users? *lobs a baseball bat square at the one the never shuts up once you ask*. Okay. Now. How many of you people use Alt-Tab or some other combo to switch apps? *most of them raise their hands* Okay. How many of you use Firefox. *alot of people raise their hands*. And IE? *alot more people raise their hands*. Okay, you lot, get the fuck outta here. You have little sense and this proposal doesn't involve you. Scoot, go, vomanos.
Okay. Now. Who here uses Ctrl-Tab to cycle through tabs inFirefox? *a few people raise their hand*. Okay. I'm not suprized. How many of you are writing down the Ctrl-Tab thing *alot of hands shoot up holding pens, then snap back down*.
Good. Now that we're all on the same page, here's my suggestion. Add a "Cycle Tabs" shortcut to SL. I know we can cycle through open subwindows, but that's kinda pointless as we still have to mouse over and pick a damn tab anyway. I want to be able to cycle tabs in IM, FIND, EDIT, ABOUT LAND, and any other underused dialogue that had tabs I might be missing.
Actually. I'd assign it to CTRL-TAB and remap cycle subwindows to something else.
Please, for the love of Ben, implement this feature, it'd make the UI go alot smoother, especially in laggy conditions where even the mouse gets seconds-per-frame rendering times.

I definitely second this, and would go much further - I think there are alot of areas in the SL client where some more keyboard functionality would go a long way.
My biggest example - wouldn't it be awesome if, when you had an object selected, you could press tab to cycle your selection among all the individual prims in the object? Prims are sometimes really hard to select in certain objects, and this would be an extrememly use function for builders.

While the UI needs a lot of work imho, this would be a great start. Also maybe a way to close windows with the keyboard (ie: CTRL-F4 like in windows). Escape gets some windows closed, but not all.

I will find a Proposal Vote and send it here if you start one, not being able to shift though my windows in SL has bugged me a lot (especially when two script/etc. minimise to the same place--they did "fix" this to some extent, but the problem is still there).
