Downloading update

I have one major annoyance with SL. When Linden Labs produce an update to the client they force you to download the WHOLE 25MB program again.

This is not necessary surely. Can't they make you download a smaller update program which updates the necessary parts of the program.

This would save me time and bandwidth in updating the client and I'm sure it would save them a ton on their server bandwidths.

Apologies if this has already been suggested. If it has please give me a link so I can vote for this feature request!

I see this alot and wonder why, it takes me all of about 2-3 minutes to download the update, so installed and running in under 5.

I have seen other online game that do part by part update, but they take 5-10 minutes sometimes, as they have to check each file, see if it needs updating, then update. And they have a scan function so when thing are not working right, you do this and see some were missed.

25meg is nothing, if that is making you go over your download limit, then well, you are downloading way more then SL, and 25meg in todays world is minutes, so no time at all.

I would rather download the complete client, then have to go thru scan/update, and have that seen fail many times, I have never had SL download fail.

Fair point. However when it works well I think it is better. I suggest Google Talk as a program which updates excellently. No need to go through another install procedure.

This point has been brought up A THOUSAND TIMES (appologies for the hyperbole) and I agree with Michael.

It took you longer to post this complaint than it did for me to download and install the update. Hush.
