We should all have blogs as part of the SL package. This would let the folks with items to sell have a easily findable place to respond to questions at, allow people to write at their own desired length without disrupting the flow of a thread in the forums, and just basically be cool.

We could access them with blogs.secondlife.com/Firstname_Lastname so it wouldn't be too hard to find them.

Have a Blog option on the pie menus to edit our own in a browser or to read someone else's in a browser.

Everyone who uses the Opera web browser gets a blog, SL users should too.

I’ve been wondering why LL doesn’t build a system with SL at the core; everything from hosted e-commerce to blogs. (my comment from this blog entry)

I suppose that blogs would be looked on more favorably by Linden Research if they took place in a simulated three D space where the person writing the blog could see parts of other people's blogs, and have to worry about people sneaking onto his blog and covering up his word's with different words, or pushgunning him off into amazon.com while he was trying to write his blog entries, or people putting hideously colored blogs with impassioned calls for George Bush's impeachment right next to his blog's borderline, so that instead of actually having time to create his blog in an efficient manner he would spend a great deal of time worrying about, hiding from, undoing or in general having to deal with other people's actions instead of producing something of merit and interest.

That I guess would be more of an SL style blog.

But for those SLers who wanted a way to promote their business efforts, promote events they hold, or discuss their interests at length and in a non-forum manner it might be nice to have an old fashioned 21st century style blog while waiting for the new fangled blog on a prim to arrive.

Idea:
blogs.secondlife.com/Firstname_Lastname
there would be a new feilds in the profile to specify the url to redirect to. The client would try to read that url as an RSS feed first and if it could would display it.

firstname.lastname.secondlife.com or lastname.secondlife.com/firstname would be cooler. :)

I thought LL was planning on doing some sort of blog thing, through the GUI even, like in the profiles or something have a "My Blog" tab.

Guess that's in last place in a long line of back burner projects.

I think it'd be cool either way.

I believe Pathfinder asked if this was wanted, and i believe the answer was: "Work on more important THINGS!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!11111111ONE"

Yes, if they spent time doing relatively easy things to make the product much more desirable then they wouldn't have time to do important challenging things like round off the corners on the progress bars.

there would be a new feilds in the profile to specify the url to redirect to.

Not that I read or write blogs, but it would be easy to implement it that way, as a redirect, so that LL wouldn't have to provide the hosting.

That's not as easy to implement, but it might be possible too.
