There has always been talk of how to zone land, and this poll intends to just be a feeler of what sorts of ways do players find acceptable for zoning.
Please fill out any and all you find acceptable ways that new land could be zoned.
Keep in mind the following zoning methods already exist: - M / PG - Land texturing (snow / grassy / etc) - Experiment charters (Lusk, Darkwood) - sandbox - Mall sims (public such as Luna, private such as Rodeo Drive) - city sims - Other privately owned sims

Sometimes I wonder if you're not a Linden. Cory springs to mind for some reason.

Terraformable is already one that exists.
I voted "Not acceptable" though. And if LL ever goes insaner and starts zoning, they'd better stick to only zoning ADDED sims, and MAYBE slowly zoning older ones as EVERYONE agrees to the zoning requirements in that sim.

Are you refering to player-controlled or Linden-controlled zoneing? Some of the poll choices, theme builds for example, I love seeing done by players, but unless the Lindens have a lot of time on their hands, it's not a project they should be undertaking.

It's my Land and I'll zone how I want to, zone how I want to...
IT'S MY LAND (to the tune of Lesley Gore's It's my Party)
Nobody knows where the teleporter's gone AV's stopped in lag hell Why are there clubs on this land Now it's all about the dwell
It's my Land and I'll zone how I want to Zone how I want to, zone how I want to, You would zone too if land happened to you
Playin' my records, keep dancin' all night AV's on the Orgy Balls Now to go shop 'til I drop In the mega mega malls
It's my Land and I'll zone how I want to Zone how I want to, zone how I want to, You would zone too if land happened to you
------ LEAD BREAK ------
HotMomma and StudBumpy dance all night Hoochie Hair - hollow toriis Penile package enhancements Drop the sim to its knees
It's my Land and I'll zone how I want to Zone how I want to, zone how I want to, You would zone too if land happened to you
*** actually I'm against land zoning unless its in newly created sims.

Chartered land seems to be working well in Lusk Estates. I was beginning to panic a bit that the project was going to fall flat on its face, but we now have several happy residents, and even a barnyard with animals

AASIM!!! I've got to visit soon and see how things have been coming along. I first met you at Lusk/Luskwood.

i've nothing against zoning new sims if they are what the zone category implies that they are.
i would probably have stayed in brown forever if it had been zoned residential.
but it wasn't.
it had rules about building heights and such for the homes.
it also had ugly market stalls that contained a plethora of large, lighted textures and laggy scripts.
i had tried boardman first but it had a club. yes a club. some cube of a "house" that was consistently loaded with fifteen avs. that many avs in one place was a real drag in the day.
but it was zoned residential and the owner called it a "house" so it was okay.
i particularly like the idea of residents being able to vote except that there will have to be a way to deal with people that no longer log in. perhaps votes would end after an amount of time only counting what has been submitted to date. but what if the real residents vote for something that requires the adjustment or deletion of an object owned by a nonlogger? what to do then? i still wonder if ll should revise the tos to require a login ever so often to retain land ownership.

This probably has been mentioned before, but one problem with lag-zoning (which I am all for) is that no-one really has the tools to track down problem scripts.
I'm worried if that we have some zoning rules about the subject, it'll just be a lot of pointless accusations back and forth when nobody can refer to hard facts about who is at fault.

I realize how to implement a zoning system is a big issue... I'm hoping though we can agree to do zoning, and THEN figure out the best way to do it.

I wonder if it would be helpful to just have a type of land where it was illegal to post events there. Would end the clubs and probably the malls.

From: Hiro Pendragon Oh, that's a great idea! Wow, simple, easy to implement, and effective! Not so much. You can't stop people from advertising events via the forum, IM, word of mouth, etc, and you can't (and shouldn't!) try to get around that by limiting the number of people in one place. Also, there's only a handfull of malls that run events on anything much resembling a regular basis.

Yeah, but who would want to use such land? No events = no dwell. It would just encourage covert non-Linden channels for setting up events?
