Space the sandbox wipes apart, say 3 hours between one region and the next...

....so that there will always be a relatively "fresh" one to work in.

Old but good idea.

One thing I'm wondering about is the slow speed at which a wipe actually takes place. It seems to occur square by square, leaving one wondering at times if the 'box is really being wiped at all? If sandbox cleanup were more more punctual on the clock, or even a way of highlighting in color which squares of the grid were being actively cleaned -- that would be a far more visual and helpful cue. :)

Oh, you and your colors. You'd probably want the colored squares to be lime-green and pink, with little black speckles.

:P

Some sort of visual indicator would be neat. Maybe a deletion-robot that moves around or a Matrix-like "Hand of God" descending from above to sweep away the debris.

Haha... well you know what, it's funny, I was actually thinking of robots like you mentioned -- and the gridsquares highlighted in RED. Because "RED" is like, "stop". "Stop building". Etc. :)

I believe "cleaner robots" have been mentioned before in the forum history?

Y'know what would be cool? Two GIANT feet w/ legs attached, descending from the sky, and a BIG broom. And, a deep bass voice from above, grumbling about the mess while the broom slowly sweeps across the sim.

I suggested this a while back, more like 6 hours apart since there are 4 official sandboxes... it sure sucks to decide to build something at 2:55.

Hey Konig,

I was presuming that each box would still be wiped twice per day, every twelve hours. Left the other way, there would be both a longer wait between the appearance of each "Fresh" sandbox, and each sandbox would accumulate up to 24hrs worth of clutter in them.

I recommend still wiping the boxes twice per day, every twelve hours, and spacing the wipes at 3 hr increments. :)

Oh... that was the other thing... if we could get a Dialog box warning of the clearing... I always miss the ones we get these days, but a dialog box would attract more attention.

*giggle* On a related note, I once made an object in Cordova that survived two consecutive sim-wipes. It was one of those annoying 'colour volume' balls (you know, the funky things that you wear that make your avatar go all 2D and strangely coloured... a bug in transparency), that I had configured with my 'tumbleweed' script, so the wind would blow it around the sim. I guess it just got lucky and kept blowing behind the 'marching delete' into places that had already been processed. :D
