And a logout/login as different user option would be nice too.

And changing a setting that requires a relog should do just that: cycle newview and log you back in.

They MIGHT be able to do this with the new renderer they're coding, but beyond that, it's "impossible" to do with the present client.

See, the reason they have it the way they do now is to make sure that wires don't get crossed with loading first one, then another agent. I'm betting they don't have a solid way of "resetting" the client when you log out, so they just make you shut it down.

Sure, it just makes it look like a bad coding job, but that's most likely the reason they do it the way they do it.

A whole slew of computer games have "quit to desktop" and "quit to main menu".
I can't imagine this would be so hard to add to the outer loop.
We've asked for this a lot.
Please? :)

Ah, but it's an educated guess based on my own computer knowledge and having to deal with LL's product for almost a year.

I'd say it's more than easy to do but not high on the priority list. Just placing a button that's function is to end the client process then start a new instance is hardly impossible. I imagine it's just one of the things they never really changed since not many people who let the client expire are needing to use the client at that moment anyway. For this to be impossible, SL would have to have the worst code structure and the language used would have to be non-object-oriented.
