I think second life would get alot more people to play the game if there was a better way for communication such as microphones I know if there was a way to play second life with microphones i would play it more ive seen other games with microphones and i think sense second life offers everything else if they had "voice" in game for better communication they would own any other game because of it
I am mainly suggesting linden labs should someway enable voice in game so people could use microphones

There are many second party programs you could use. I use teamspeak in other games. I'm not sure how appropiate real audio would be for SL, it is very nice in tactical or fast paced games.

You'll then create a second class of people who cannot or will not use mikes, either due to lack of sufficiently advanced tech, or an avatar at odds with their real voice. You'll also alienate newbies, who'll see a bunch of avatars standing around, apparently silent.

Speech to text would be neat, but I abhore team-speak in games like UT2k4 to the point that I switch it off in any game that supports it. I don't like hearing a ton of 9 year olds who've managed to get their parents to pay for a game for them, shouting and swearing in the most basic insults they can manage With text you don't have to read it, which is best IMO

From: Alexx Gremlin I think second life would get alot more people to play the game if there was a better way for communication such as microphones It'd get different people, anyway. I wouldn't play it nearly as much if I was discriminated against because I decline to use voice. And don't say that wouldn't happen.
