I've been whinning about this since it became borked in 1.7. It looks like it did pre 1.6 and it was fixed for a little while and It actually looked good before it was changed. I even posted before and after photos but I never heard a peep from the Lindens about it. Then again, considering the blank sky, constant full moon and horrendious looking repeating land textures; water isn't high on thier priority list from the looks of it.

Good lord this again?
I submitted a bug report awhile ago too. Hope underwater goes dark again, otherwise it looks just WEIRD.At least now we have ripple water (and no ugly sun+moon reflection within it)... that's one long soretooth feeling better, more to come! _____________________

I hope underwater DOESN'T go dark, because that's where my house is.

Well, it won't change the lighting of your objects; it will just reduce the amount of 'stooopid' when looking at far distances underwater.

Well, so long as whatever fix is applied doesn't have an effect within draw distance.
I've already had to limit the size of rooms in my house so the "underwater fog" isn't obvious. |

Look at the examle given in the first post, does this not look stupid to you? The underwater fog is not under debate, just the sky showing up underwater. If, on the otherhand, you want underwater to look like land... build on land would be my humble opinion.
Whoops, responded to your pre edited comment. Nevermind. _____________________
