I went into preferences, Network, and increased Maximum Bandwidth to 1000. But the lag was bad because according to a Linden staffer through LiveHelp, “setting your bandwidth to 1000 causes lag because SL cannot send that much to every resident.” Well what about offering 1000 Kbps to premium accounts? Naturally Basic and additional accounts would have their bandwidth capped at 200 Kbps. Paid Premium accounts could increase the cap to 1000 and it would truly be 1000 Kbps because these accounts would be on dedicated bandwidth (similar to Fileplanet’s monthly service). I read a report that said 60% of Americans that use the Internet do so on some form of broadband. So for those of us with the bandwidth, I think this would be a great way to encourage ones to convert their basic and additional accounts to become premium accounts.
