Allow 'For Sale' signs to be excluded from allowed prim totals

'For Sale' signs are used by those that wish to market their land. In that vein, I fear that they aren't effective enough, and in some cases, cannot be used in a way that works best.

The entire plot should be allowed to be covered with these signs, at no cost to the land holder. After all, these are plots that contribute to the Linden Lab future if they can be sold, incorporated into tiers and therefore fees that are paid into LL's coffers.

The reasons to relax the prim count restriction are clear:

1) Land is clearly a valuable and marketable resource, and the tools should exist for the sale of land, as this is completely centric to LL's policies.

2) Prims used as part of a 'For Sale' sign should be excluded from the plot prim count, because simply - some plots demand more visibility, but it isn't a level playing field. How can somone advertise their lot without the proper signage? A small bit of land shouldn't be excluded from this opportunity, therefore signs that may exhaust a small plots prim allotment should be relaxed to allow the equal opportunity to advertise.

3) 'For Sale' signs should be allowed to cover the extents of the plot, without any restrictions in regard to prim-count, for the reasons outlined above.

4) There has been prior support for 'For Sale' signs, and this backing should be considered by Linden Lab.

5) The prim allocation that normally would be assigned to these plots can be either increased (as LL has done with project sims) or simply make these 'For Sale' signs count in the 'temporary' objects for the sim, like attachments and vehicles.

I think that with this change 'For Sale' signs can be more effective, and far-reaching in their ability to advertise land availability.

Thanks for reading.

I don't mean to be demeaning if this isn't a joke, but... this IS a joke, right..? Someone is promoting For Sale signs..? And in fact asking that they don't even count for prims..? I'm covering my eyes now.

I don't think it's so much a joke, Daemioth, as an argument based on showing that the opposite is inconsistent, or in this case, ridiculous.

That's a perfectly sound method in logic, so don't laugh it down. Although it does sound funny. :-)

I'll support this initiative if for sale signs are also changed in such a way that we can filter them so we don't have to look at them if we are not shopping for land.

BAM!

For Sale signs should only be allowed if they support graphitti. ;)

Most foward-thinking and supportive!!

I endorse this feature 101-percent!!

This will give me the exposure I truly need for my wealth of marked-up plots!!

*chortles and works on new for sale sign, increasing dimensions with tasteful type!*

Bifurcation
Also referred to as the "black and white" fallacy and "false dichotomy", bifurcation occurs if someone presents a situation as having only two alternatives, where in fact other alternatives exist or can exist.

It isn't the only alternative, just a well-worded one. If you've got one prak, serve it up. I'm only 'taking my lead' from the community outcry over 'For Sale' sign regulation. So, I thought this up - I'm sure there are many OTHER ways we can help Land Barons, but I can't think of them all by myself!

I vote just the opposite, that all for sale signs be banned as they are a blight on the pristine landscape beneath =) I could only imagine what exclusions like this would do to the world, but i can guarantee it wouldn't be pretty. Do you really run out of prims anyways under the current system constructing your for sale signs? I can barely even imagine using up to 117 prims per 512 m2 of land for this alone =P

I'm sorry Deklax, I tried that tack, but the community doesn't want to go down the 'slipperly slope' of removing objects that are 'For Sale' signs. There must be some logic in there that escapes me, however this alternative they must enjoy, since it AMPLIFIES the power of 'For Sale' signs, not discouraging them.
