if the main grid is down then put the test grid up

it is sunday morning the 19 of fed and the main grid is down... then why doesnt the Linden do something about the endless download/install loop that is plaguing the test grid and get it up and running so we can do something in SL.

I think this is a great idea - put the test grid up when the real grid is down for those the need a fix of SL. This might be good for business but probably technically impossible. I'd doubt the test grid can handle 5% of the load the real grid can so it would quickly become overloaded.

Bigger question...
Why does the entire grid go down at once? This is a grid so parts should be able to work without other parts working - Like the phone system. Seems reliabilty could be massively improved if they rearchitected to allow greater independence of the parts of the system. Suppose the asset servers are main issue....
