You know how if you hoold ctrl and use left or right arrow the cursor skips a whole word. Well you've implemented this in you bug report text window - how about doing it for the chat textbox too?

Well spotted, Prof, well done! :-)

Many of the panels already have client-side XML files so it wouldn't be a large step for them to allow us to select a "readline" option in the various input boxes, for even more extensive input handling. They wouldn't even need to supply the code, if it causes them licensing issues. Just the hook is enough, assuming that there's module loading functionality already available.

I want double-click drag in the edtior. I miss that SOO much. I hate it when programs forget to add that edit feature. (And now I see that it's lacking in Firefox, but this is a young program, so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt for now.)

Indeed, although UI controls need to have user bindings since one person's fantastic accelerator is another person's worst nightmare. An XML bindings config file will do if a bindings panel is too much work.

I too want some extra functionality for mouse buttons: (i) binding of the middle button to keys or UI actions since I want to bind it to MOVE_FORWARD for mouse-only travel in mouselook, and (ii) the far larger issue of "interactive gaming" mousebutton functionality as per the link in my sig.

Firefox has me worried ... a lot of people are giving it the benefit of the doubt for the same reason, and maybe it's getting away with murder as a result. Eg. I haven't yet reported the bug that it ignores window manager settings, namely clicking on the Firefox window not only brings Firefox into focus but also raises it above other windows, even if you've set your WM to focus-on-click-but-dont-raise mode. Very annoying, since Firefox is the only program with that fascist "I know better" attititude; all my other X11 programs obey the WM.

It's still early days as you say, but we'll have to put our foot down at some point.
