I think it would be cool to have, in the upper right hand corner of the screen, a space with scrolling text in it. Next to it there would be a small light that would blink at the hour and the scrolling text would list the names of events for that hour. The light/text combo could also be used for Linden announcements "The sim's going down," etc. And it'd be so much nicer than the big blue scary pop ups.

Heh when I read "streaming" announcement I thought it would be http voice streaming like in the town hall.
