Moving Objects owned by others

Figured I'd post this here for discussion purposes.

Suggestion: It would be nice if the Landowner had the capability of "moving" objects that he/she does not own by default, while they are on one's own parcel.

Examples:

1. Objects that are rezzed by others, that you wish to keep... but have been rezzed in an inconvienient location. For example, often people come by my place and rez their freebies. I've setup a table for those freebies to go on, but often, people rez them in any random spot. It would be nice if, instead of just returning the freebie, I could slide it over to where its supposed to be, keeping things neat & tidy.

2. Ghosts. I understand this would become moot if the root cause was fixed. Also I may be misunderstanding the "workaround" here.... but.....

When someone rezzes something by mistake, (or intentionally), and I return it.... often, it ghosts. If its an object I own, I can just drag it into the ground to make it go away. But if the object belongs to someone else, and they crash or log.... I'm stuck with the object, and can't "position it into the ground". As the landowner, it would be nice if I could do this.

What does everyone think about the landowner being able to slide others objects around on their own property by default? Would this be a good thing or a bad thing? Am I missing something here that would create a security problem?

Your thoughts for or against this idea are appreciated :)

Would be cool, would be also cool to have the delete/return function triggerable by script

That would be nice. I've got this vendor a friend left on my property with my permission, but my build has changed a lot since then, and I'd really like to move it to a more suitable location. Meanwhile my friend has a RL injury keeping her out of SL, so she can't drop by to move it for me. It's kind of frustrating.

(Moving a ghosted prim only moves it for you. The server doesn't send a position update to other clients since it has no record of such an object existing anymore.)

(...Would be nice if it told ALL clients that such and object is gone, if it detected an attempt to move/interact with said ghosted object...)

I agree, land owners should be able to move anything on their land. If they have the power to delete it, they ought to be able to move it out of the way and into a more desireable spot.

I agree as well. In addition to being useful on my home property, it would really help us out at the art museum. People could contribute art by placing it at the museum and instead of having to return it because we can't position it properly, we could reposition it later.

Great idea!!
