The map icons (particularly on the mini-map) are too big. Make them smaller with these:
CODE
map_avatar_you_8.tga	cce9f781-b045-1c74-0d70-3035cf5ec17d
map_avatar_8.tga 772b7f9a-96f7-8d05-0d98-a9d9e3f40a55
map_avatar_16.tga 07818416-a17c-dad6-306d-8b073478631b

OK, I didn't have enough time to test this initially but it's fixed now. Apparently, the mini-map uses a different, off-center icon (map_avatar_you_8.tga) for your avatar than the larger map does. Because SL won't allow images smaller than 16x16 pixels to be uploaded, I had to offset the mini-map self icon so it would remain centered and not rotate off-center. I forgot to use the normal, centered icon (map_avatar_16.tga) for the large map. The green avatar icon (map_avatar_8.tga) is fine in both maps, oddly.

Reason: added centered self map icon
First read as "self-centered icon". :)

How about a different color than green, one that stands out more against the light blue "my stuff" color... or is there a way to change the "my stuff" color?

Go nuts:

Unfortunately, I don't think the turquoise object color is changable. I asked Andrew Linden (who asked James Linden) about changing the green T and _|_ av height indicators but he said they were hard-coded (in the exe, presumably) so, the object color most likely is too. Now, there might be a way to hex-edit the exe if one can find where these color values are but I wouldn't know how to find them.
