Parcel ban/access lists could use improvement

Luskwood has a land arrangement where people can get a parcel owned by the Luskwood Estates group. The Clara sim is mostly subdivided for this purpose, and I have a parcel there.

Recently there were group management improvements, and I've been giving it a try. Like I expected, since we all belong to the same group, I can go to anybody else's parcel and edit their ban list, freeze or kick them out, etc.

While I understand that land probably wasn't intended to use this way, I think some improvements could be made to reduce problems a bit:
  1. Add an unerasable log of changes made to the land, like additions or removals of people from the ban list, as well as ejects, freezes, etc, stating who did what and when. I think that at the very least this will remove some confusion.
  2. Add a function similar to llOverMyLand that would return some sort of parcel identifier (say, a key) to make it easier for scripts to tell whether people are your piece of land or not.
  3. Make it possible to link permissions to eject/ban/etc to specific parcels owned by the group, thus solving the problem completely.

To clarify what exaclty we have goin on there, we have a bunch of group owned mainland land, that we subdivided into plots and offer to people to use, for their tier contribution to the group.

With the new tools, we decided to create a 'resident' class within the group, which gave people some plot/land permissions. These permissions apply to all land owned by the group and not a single parcel, and we understand that there is the potential for abuse there.

We did at the time think though that it was more important to offer the trust that they would not be abused, so that people could have the controls they *needed* on their shared land... and if there are any problems, please let us know. Anyone abusing the priveledges granted them by being in the resident class will be kicked back to the ability-less 'everyone' class... or potentially simply ejected from the group, as we see fit.

Trust your neighbors dale, and hopefully they will trust you...

The controls and abilities granted go a long way to letting you make the land yours, and they will remain so, as long as they aren't abused.

My feature proposal 1632 includes the idea of each ban having a 'set by' field so you can tell who set it.

Oh, I'm not saying I have any problem ATM. Just thinking that there is room for improvements before an actual need to complain arises.

See, I was just thinking of using this new improvement for playing with llEjectFromLand and such a bit, and of course had to do some testing. This, IMO, makes it a bit more complicated to do such things without annoying somebody else. For instance, llOverMyLand would make a very fine safety mechanism if it was my land, and of course ejecting wouldn't even work if it returned false.

The thing I'm concerned about is not somebody else doing something like editing my banlist, but me being able to do that to somebody else. Maybe I got a bit paranoid due to my work, but I know from experience that it's very likely people will ask me if I touched anything any time things seem to work differently than usual, so I would almost expect people to start asking me "Did you touch my banlist?" as soon as they find what I'm working on. So just to be safe, I'd prefer either not to be able to affect other people's land, or if I can at least have it logged, so that what is my fault can be found and corrected, and what isn't can be proved not to be me.

But I guess that just to be on the safe side, I'll just use my unused tier to get a little parcel for testing.
