I was just reading about the xbox 360 over at art techica. One of the interesting features is it's stream lined interface between the ram and gpu, and also the streamline system from memory to processor to gpu. The later remind me of how SecondLife currently operates. It accrues to me that the xbox 360 may be more then powerful anuff to run SecondLife.

So I submit to you, the suggestion of SecondLife 360.

Sense there has been talks about incorporating more functionality into the secondlife interface. That would allow easy addition of a custom input system to use the 360's controller. Perhaps even using 360 built in voice conferencing for SL, and the 360 built in purchasing system for online virtual goods.

Linux today, Console Wars tomorrow. That's my opinion.

Since Linux can be flashed onto certain console memories, that's a nice compromise. :p

They would lose money supporting Xbox 360. Period.

Way too much pain for such a small amount of gain. Most people who have xboxes also have a PC that can run SL, so it's almost a pointless argument.

It would be difficult to edit objects with a joystick!

Linux
Xbox
PS2
Gamecube
GameBoy

Whatever the name every OS and ever console has a different "language" what you have to remember is another "language" costs $$. They have to hire someone that can write in that new language and that raises cost. Question is aas already mentioned...is there profit in doing so. Linux maybe but I doubt the othes would...UNLESS we all want a bunch of teens running around in here.

"I <3 Linux" translates to "I Love Linux". And I would love to see some version of Second Life on the XBOX 360. I am pretty sure it isnt impossible to do because its been done with Final Fantasy 11, I believe. Final Fantasy 11 allowed PC and PS2 players to interact in the same world even while being across different platforms. As for building on the XBOX 360, it would be challenging to build things using an analog stick but you may be able to plug a mouse and keyboard into the system because from what I heard, XBOX 360 will have 3 USB 2.0 ports that would allow you to connect a USB keyboard, mouse and/or headset. So I pretty much think it is possible but I really dont know about how it would effect Linden Labs income.

Might make sense for the teen grid... later. In addition to the expense of a different development platform (and the support costs associated with adding another platform), and the limitations of game controller input, most consoles don't have permanent storage large enough to hold the SL client, and the frequent updates make this a necessity. The console market is not very forgiving of games that require patches.
