Posted this in General, and got the idea to post it here, in the faint hope that a Linden might see and read it:

This post [one about the Ivory Tower of Primatives, for example, not being able to be listed in Events]makes me think of newspapers irl:
Things in CLASSIFIEDS have always been things to SELL.
Except for "LOST PETS" - which generally get to run their ad for FREE.
Charitable events - plus community things like library do'ins and such - generally have a separate place for listings, which they also get to do for free, as it is a community service for the newspaper to tell us about them.
Now the Ivory Tower is not a commercial place. It is no longer true that *any* place is in some way commercial, because it is no longer true (or soon won't be) that we have DWELL.
THEREFORE - it is crazed that noncommercial places like this cannot be on Events for free, whereas totally commercial places having events CAN. (Which I'm also in favor of, of course.)
Previously, I have proposed a category in events for just such things - ongoing community things, like the Touchstone Fair, and also things like Ivory Tower, and also that place that person had that was a tour of a country and its art, or something. Museums, etc. Charitable events. Any place where things are NOT being sold, which are ongoing places or events of interest.
Obviously, the events calendar needs a category for things that are ongoing and need not have a host present. Maybe something called, "Community Events and Services," or whatever its corollary rl newspaper sections are called.
